Reclamation As Performance
Reclamation is my performance, an extension of my artistic practice and journey. The variety of new surfaces I work on suddenly opens up new ways of redesigning previous lines and sprayed experiments. For instance, the semi-rough surface of the wood panels presents a challenge because not all tools in my current arsenal work effectively on wood.
In turn, I’ve learned to adapt and experiment freely and curiously. But I discovered that my linework creates the textures, the depths with the already rough surface of the wood. The overlapping textures created by weaving drawn lines and spraying strokes, combined with the wood’s grain, influence the appearance and tactile quality of the overlaid drawing and painting.
The intrigue and excitement in exploring new surfaces for my latest works offer new ways of viewing my designs and future conceptual concerns. It keeps me going from one surface to the next with anticipation that I have never quite experienced before, well, not since introducing spray paint into my work. Not surprisingly, improvising ends up being the most suitable
“mode of transportation.”

Grain meets line meets spray.
